Barn

In 1977, my Grandpa Joe gave me a handmade barn. I loved that thing. It’s been in storage for years, so I pulled it out this year for the boys. Seems to be a hit!

Christmas story

This afternoon I took the boys to the bank to open savings accounts for them.  While we were waiting in the lobby, Ben noticed the Christmas tree in the corner.  This was our conversation:

Ben: Hey, that Christmas tree is missing a star on top.
Lisa: You're right, it is.
B: I guess somebody forgot to put a star on it!
L: Sometimes people put angels on the tops of Christmas trees instead of stars.
B: Like a statue of an angel?
L: Kind of a statue, kind of a doll.
B: Like the Statue of Liberty?  That would be crazy!
L: It would be!  Plus, it would crush the Christmas tree!
B: Is the Statue of Liberty really old?
L: Yes, it was a gift from France a long time ago.  Over 100 years ago.
B: It was a gift to the Baby Jesus from France?
L: Um, no...

Ben has been diving for rings at swim class these past few weeks and is getting faster about it every week. Apparently he doesn't share his mother's aversion to water up the nose.
